38 and Feeling Great!

Two days ago I turned 38. I awoke for the first time in years without any regrets and a full desire to move forward will all zeal. I am still hopeful for a wish or two to come true and am too stubborn to give up on that part of youth. Afterall, what would a birthday be without a wish. I was able to spend lunch with a dear friend who shares the birthday month with me.

Happy Birthday Lisa a day early...and thanks for the great lunch at Chilis!

And like most of my special days...they revolve around food. Therefore, I celebrated turning another year older with Steve and Nathan at Pei Wei...yummm...asian food. So far, I must say, there are no complaints.

Valentines Day and Teen Boys

What does a mother and a surrogate mother do for two teen boys on Valentines Day?

I made both Nathaniel and Trent these cute little goody bags filled with candy, tictacs and a small stuffed animal....So what does the thoughtful mom get in return...

A son trying to act thrilled

and a friend blowing into the bag trying to pop it
Oh well...who said life with boys can't be fun!!! Happy Valentines Day everyone.

Damons Day

For Damons Christmas and birhtday gifts this year we decided to take him to see the Harlom Globtrotters. With the typical patients of a now 10 year old, his day finally arrived. With the promise of a free tshirt that was supposed to arrive in the mail prior to the game (came 2 days late), a train ride that was almost missed (procrastination on leaving the house), we finally arrived at the American Airlines Center. The fun...and the expense began. First purchase $25 tshirt. Finding our pretty great seats. Off to the snack bar for his $11.50 hotdog and drink. The first half of the game and then off to find cotton candy. The last half of the game and the announcement of the autograph session at the end. This leading to the purchase of the $25 basketball.Nothing better than a footlong dog!
The family portrait with "Big Easy"
Practicing his moves while awaiting the next train

A relaxing ride home, picking up Nate to join us for a meal at Chilis, I would say it was a great day! and i am glad that we had the $$$ means to treat Damon to a special day.

Opposites on Parenting

It is 7:59 am...mom walks in from work

mom: nate do you want me to drive you to school now

nate: i'm making a bagel

mom: it is now 8:00 and you will be late

dad: snickering

nate: it does not have to be that precise...there is time

dad: snickering again. let him make a bagel

mom: i don't want to get a call that you were late

dad: still snickering

nate: (to dad) well it needs to be a little quicker than your time

dad: nate...it must be hard to have parents on such opposite ends of the spectrum

ahhh...the life of parenting a teen!
